Numa

A personalized self-discovery and social app that combines personality insights, compatibility, and daily reflections into a unified experience.

Problem

Most self-discovery and personality apps feel fragmented and superficial, offering isolated insights (like MBTI or astrology) without meaningful integration or real social context. Users lack a centralized platform to understand themselves and connect with others in a more intentional, structured way.

Solution

Built a unified platform that combines personality frameworks, compatibility insights, and guided reflections into a single system, allowing users to explore their identity while forming more meaningful, data-driven connections with others.

My role

Led product design and development direction, shaping onboarding flows, personality systems, and user experience while defining how insights translate into social interaction and engagement.

Lessons

  • Users need clear value early in onboarding or they drop off quickly
  • Too many frameworks at once can overwhelm instead of help
  • Personalization only works if it feels actionable, not just informational
  • UX clarity matters more than feature depth in early-stage products

Future work

Expand NUMA by refining the personality model to be more adaptive over time, introducing deeper social features that encourage meaningful interaction beyond surface-level matching, and improving onboarding to balance depth with speed. Explore AI-driven insights to make interpretations more dynamic and context-aware, while enhancing privacy controls and user transparency.
